The Legacy of the Drifters continues

The Drifters are the longest running band in pop history still performing live and enjoying over 50 hits world-wide. For more than seventy years, the group have undergone many line-up changes and the singers you see in this film are directly descended from those early days. No other vocal group has had as much success artistically and commercially as The Drifters and they are now one of the biggest selling artistes of all time. Until 1998, the most consistent member, the late, great Johnny Moore (who first joined The Drifters in 1954) took the stage with three of the current members of this line-up, Peter Lamarr, Patrick Alan and Rohan Delano Turney. When Johnny died in 1998, This version of the Drifters decided to continue in his honour, bringing in Victor Bynoe to complete the line up.

Peter Lamarr

…was delighted at his first chance to join The Drifters in 1990, having been a fan of Johnny Moore’s since childhood. “It was an honour and privilege to work with a man who has virtually set the vocal standard for his time. I felt blessed to be a part of such musical history.” Peter also has a flourishing acting career and has appeared in many films and on TV. He writes, produces and performs on movie soundtracks and his hectic schedule meant he could not tour with the group for two years. However, 2004 was a very exciting year for Peter as he rejoined The Drifters and once again added his fine vocal talents and exciting stage presence to their fabulous show.

Patrick Alan

…was born into a musical family in St. Louis, USA (the home of the blues) and trained as a dancer and performer in Los Angeles. Patrick became one of Michael Jackson’s featured dancers in the film “Moonwalker” and enjoyed a very successful career in TV, dance and choreography. Deciding to pursue his first love of singing, Patrick was honoured to be invited to join The Drifters in 1990 and perform with one of his musical heroes, the legendary Johnny Moore: “Working with Johnny was amazing and I learned so much!”

Rohan Delano Turney

…joined The Drifters in early 1991. Previously in great demand as a backing vocalist for many well-known artistes, his first engagement with The Drifters was a live TV broadcast from Holland. Rohan went into shock when he found out the TV show was being beamed across the whole of Europe to an estimated viewing audience of 40 million. After his initial nerves, he went on to sing a fabulous version of “Save The Last Dance” and audiences have not stopped applauding Rohan since!

Victor Bynoe

…is the newest member of The Drifters, joining the band in 2002. Victor is well respected for his multiple talents as a singer, songwriter, performer and record producer. During his varied career, he has performed at the Talk Of London, Drury Lane as lead vocalist in the stage production “Big Time”, worked with production company Mass Music and Roc Steadi Records and also competed in the Eurovision Song Contest with Nikki French, representing the UK in Sweden, 2000. Vic is now thrilled to be part of The Drifters in their Anniversary year.
